Typically, people don't think about the environment or their wallet on their wedding day. After all, it's supposed to be a very special and elaborate occasion. Unfortunately, a wedding can create just as much of an impact on the earth as anything else. With the amount of divorces that are occurring each year, only one can imagine how many weddings are actually taking place. With the high amount of weddings comes a lot of money spent, a lot of wasted food, wasted beverages, expensive catering, etc. Most weddings in the United States are estimated to cost around $26,000.00. Isn't that outrageous? The alternative? An eco friendly wedding. Not only do earth friendly weddings lessen the impact on the planet, but they also lessen the gigantic chunk of money taken from your wallet.

1. Don't Travel Too Far - Not everyone owns a battery-operated vehicle, which means the more you travel, the more gas you will use. If you're inviting a lot of guests, they'll be burning a lot of fuel as well. On top of that, gas costs money, and it will end up hurting everyone's wallet. For a more convenient wedding with less impact on the environment, choose a location that is close to everyone invited.

2. Create Your Own Menu - You don't have to go all out and spend outrageous amounts of money on catering. Ask a friend to serve for you, or simply have everyone to serve themselves. A good idea for an eco friendly wedding would be to create your own menu full of organic foods. Also, offer some whole fruits and vegetables as snacks.

3. Save On Jewelry - Wedding rings can cost hundreds and thousands of dollars, and to be quite honest, it's pointless. No matter the cost of the ring, it's still a symbol of your love and affection. Instead of spending all that unnecessary cash, use wedding rings that have been passed down through your family, or simply purchase one that isn't so expensive.

4. Purchase an Eco Friendly Wedding Dress - Who says that you have to go out and spend $10,000.00 on your wedding gown? Believe it or not, there are actually bridal dress stores that sell wedding gowns in organic and recycled cotton. Another option would be to hit your local thrift stores up for deals on used wedding dresses.

5. Encourage Everyone On What To Buy - When people know that there is going to be a wedding, the first thing they think of is what they are going to bring. There are a lot of different things that you could encourage others to buy. This is beneficial because it provides everyone with a head's up about the theme of the wedding. 6. Create Your Own Bouquet - Perhaps you own a rose bush or know someone who has a garden full of flowers. Pick your own flowers and design your own green wedding bouquets. 8. Put Up a "No Smoking" Sign - Nothing could be worse than having someone smoking cigarettes at your eco friendly wedding. Not that anyone would do this intentionally, it's just that some people are so used to it that they'll light up almost anywhere, particularly outside where it doesn't seem to harm anyone. In reality, it harms everyone. Let your guests know that this is to be one of the most cared-for earth friendly weddings and no smoke is allowed, not even at the reception.

After the wedding, most couples go on a honeymoon. Try not to spend too much money or travel too far. Again, it may seem like too much to ask, but you can still have the time of your life. Perhaps you could go on a romantic camping trip at the lake or in the mountains. Consider the food that you eat and avoid fast food restaurants at all costs. Instead, bring your own organic food and snacks. You'll feel much better afterward.
